Welcome from the Principal

Henley Management College is a remarkable institution. This year we are 60 years old, which makes us one of the oldest business schools in Europe and the first to be established in the UK. We are one of the global thought-leaders in management.

We are very proud of our reputation as the school for practising managers. Today we have nearly 6,000 of them across the globe, studying for a range of highly regarded masters degrees and doctorates. A further 3,000 each year benefit from our range of open and tailored executive development programmes.

They have all chosen Henley Management College, not just because of the strength of our reputation but also because of the practical focus of our programmes.

Our international reputation is reflected in our status as one of the few business schools around the world who have achieved ‘triple’ accreditation for quality from the leading professional bodies in the USA, Europe and the UK: AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA.

Henley offers capability development to both individuals and organisations.

For the individual

From our innovative full-time MBA programme to the wide variety of part-time and distance-learning approaches, we are one of the world’s largest providers of MBAs. This year we have managers from 110 countries registered with us, covering every continent. Over 75 per cent come from outside the UK, and of those 61 per cent come from Europe, 15 per cent from Africa and the Middle East, 13 per cent from the Americas, and 11 per cent from Asia Pacific.

Our open executive programmes provide managers with incisive short courses covering key aspects of management. Our advanced management programme provides an exceptional opportunity to build the capabilities of future business leaders.

For the organisation

We work with major European, US and Asian businesses to tailor programmes that help them build the capabilities of their organisations.

For some, we support tailored masters degree programmes: the MBA for IBM, Vodafone, Ford, Siemens and the Johor Corporation, for example, and an MSc in Marketing for Microsoft.

For others, we deliver bespoke executive solutions that combine learning and development activity with follow-up coaching back in the workplace.

The Henley experience

Henley Management College was established to build management capability, and to do so in a way that recognises that as much learning comes from working with other managers as it does through working with our experienced faculty.

This approach to learning based around the importance of learning in a team and supported by the richness of the environment in which we operate, the technology, and the time we give to individuals, all combine to create an unforgettable experience.

You don’t have to take our word for it: nearly 60 per cent of our current MBA students have come to us via recommendations from others who have studied with us. Many of our current clients came to us between 5 and 10 years ago looking for a partner who understands customer needs.

Outcomes

Henley Management College prides itself on its ability to add significant value to all its partners, individuals and organisations. Whilst the basis for external rankings is always subjective, it is true to say that all business schools will highlight those in which they do well and we are no exception, so, for the record, here are our most recent successes:

  • The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) ranked Henley as the No. 2 full-time MBA in the UK, 7th in Europe, and 26th out of the 100 schools featured.
  • In the Financial Times our modular MBA moved up the rankings for the 4th consecutive year to 6th in the UK, 10th in Europe and 25th worldwide.

(We did not participate in the Financial Times ranking for full-time programmes in 2004.)

These, along with our success in the rankings for executive education, demonstrate that we are one of Europe’s leading business schools.

Research and development

These successes and our past achievements are underpinned by a culture of research, and the development of new ideas and approaches that help managers do their jobs better.

We work with industry, the public and voluntary sectors to help them understand what capabilities they need and how to go about building them. In the last two years our faculty have published 59 books or chapters in books, 126 articles in academic or practitioner journals, 143 conference papers and 33 working papers, and the College has attracted over £750k in research funding from business and, in particular, the European Union.

We also developed and run Europe’s leading doctoral research programme.

International reach

Finally, we operate directly or through associates in 15 countries. Our scope is global and wherever you are, you can participate in one of our innovative programmes.
